
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 1, 2013) – A former felon, who is out on parole, shot and wounded a man during a heated altercation on a village in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said Sunday.
Police said Rodrigo Galvez, 38, escaped after shooting Expedito Cañido, 54, in Salaan village. Galvez was drinking with friends in the house of Ronaldo Francisco when Cañido arrived and joined them.
Both men were invited to the house in celebration of the village fiesta, but the two got into an argument with Galvez pulling a handgun and ended up shooting Cañido, who was hit in the shoulder. Cañido was rushed to hospital.
Police said Galvez was convicted to murder and had been recently released on parole. (Mindanao Examiner)
