GenSan niyanig ng lindol

COTABATO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 29, 2012) – Muling natigib sa takot ang mga residente ng General Santos City sa Mindanaomatapos itong yanigin ng malakas na lindol kaninang umaga.
Walang inulat na pinsala sa mga gusali, ngunit nagulantang ang mga residente sa lindol na may lakas na 5.2 magnitude sa Richter scale. Ayon sa US Geological Survey ay tectonic ang ugat ng pagyanig at natunton ito halos 148 kilometro sa kanluran ng General Santos.
Dakong alas 8 ng umaga ng maramdaman ang lindol at agad naman pinawi ng mga awtoridad ang takot ng publiko na baka magkaroon ng tsunami.
Ilang beses ng niyanig ng lindol ang General Santos City at iba pang bahagi ng Mindanao sa mga nakalipas na buwan. Ang Pilipinas ay nasa “ring of fire” dahil sa mga underwater volcanoes na siyang malimit na dahilan ng paglindol, gayun na rin ang paggalaw ng mga plate ng daigdig sa Asya. (Mark Navales)
