ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Apr. 21, 2012) – Police killed a suspected criminal in a gun battle Saturday in the southern Philippine port city of Zamboanga, officials said.
One policeman was wounded in the fire fight that killed the gunman in the village of Talon-Talon. The gun man was allegedly involved in a series of motorcycle robberies and killings in Zamboanga.
Police also recovered a pistol from the slain gunman.
Officials said policemen raided the village after a civilian informant tipped off authorities about the presence of the gunman in Talon-Talon. It was unknown whether the gunman was alone during the fire fight. (Mindanao Examiner)
