PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 22, 2013) – A farmer was killed and four others were wounded in an attack by a lone gunman at a party in the southern Philippine city of Pagadian, police said.

Police said a lone gunman barged at the village hall of Lapidian where the local Women’s Organization was having a party and shot Ronald Nonol, 29, several times. The attack also wounded Mervin Yagonia, 13; Alexes Legoneas, 32; Arlyn Seraspi, 9; and Angela Princess Legonas, 6.

The gunman fled after the attack. Police said investigators recovered at least 7 bullet casings of .45-caliber pistol.

The wounded were rushed to hospital. The motive of the attack is still unknown, but police said it is investigating the murder of Nonol.

Gun attacks are not uncommon in Pagadian City where killings frequently occur and are largely blamed to hired killers. (Mindanao Examiner)
