
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 8, 2012) – Gunmen killed a teenager in an attack in the southern Philippine port city of Zamboanga, police said.
Police said Abdua Hasim, 19, was shot dead in the village of Muti where his family maintains a seaweed farm.
The motive of Tuesday attack is still unknown, but police investigators said the assailants have been identified and that authorities are hunting down the killers.
It was not immediately known whether the killing was connected to business rivalry of family feud. But gun attacks are not uncommon in Zamboanga where over a hundred people were killed since early this year.
Most of the murders remains unsolved and police largely blamed the attacks on hired killers who actively operating in Zamboanga City.
On Monday, a gunman also shot dead Patricia Tan, 50, whose family owns the Morning Sun Satti, in an attack on the village of Tetuan.
Police said the gunman killed Humines after she refused to hand her bag to the assailant. Humines was with her husband Jonathan and were heading home on a motorbike when three motorcycle men intercepted them. (Mindanao Examiner)
