BASILAN PROVINCE (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 3, 2014) – One person was fatally shot and ten-year old boy injured when a lone gunman attacked them in Isabela City in Basilan province in southern Philippines, police said Sunday.
Police said the attacker shot and killed Gapur Tukul and also the boy in the village of Binuangan on Saturday at noon time. The victims were residents of Guiong village in Sumisip town.
Gapur was shot several times in the body while the boy sustained a gunshot wound in the stomach, police said, adding, investigators recovered 7 bullet casings of .45-caliber pistol.
The motive of the shooting is still unknown, but gun attacks are not uncommon in Isabela City, the capital of Basilan, one of five provinces under the Muslim autonomous region. (Mindanao Examiner)
