ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 30, 2013) – An unidentified gunman shot Thursday a Filipino overseas worker who was only vacationing in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said.
The victim, Abibakrin Budin, was in a motorcycle taxi with his nephew when the gunman shot him several times in the body with a pistol near the Zamboanga International Airport.
The attacker escaped after the shooting which occurred despite the presence of policemen and soldiers at the vicinity.
Budin was rushed to hospital. His family said Budin was on his way to the airport and would fly to Manila on his way to the Middle East where he works.
The motive of the attack is still unknown. Gun attacks in Zamboanga City are not uncommon and dozens had been shot and killed since early this year by suspected hired killers. (Mindanao Examiner)
