PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Oct. 21, 2013) – Two motorcycle gunmen strafed a house of a village chieftain in Pagadian City in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Sur province, police said.
Police said the gunmen opened fire on the house of Ramon Polenzon, village chieftain of Datagan, and wounded the politician’s nephew, Hernani Polenzon. The gunmen escaped on two motorcycles after the shooting.
The victim was rushed to the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center for gunshot wounds. Investigators have recovered at least 5 bullet shells fired from a .45-caliber pistol.
No individual or group claimed responsibility for the attack, but police said the strafing could be politically motivated. The attack occurred ahead of village elections this month. (Mindanao Examiner)
