
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 21, 2013) – Three people held captive in the southern Philippine province of Sulu were released after a series of negotiations, authorities said Tuesday.
It said truck driver Sali Espada and his helper were freed in the town of Patikul after weeks in captivity. Both had been seized by armed men in the province.
Gunmen also released restaurant owner Renato Yanga in Jolo town after weeks in captivity. It was not immediately known whether ransom was paid for the release of the captives. (Mindanao Examiner)
