KIDAPAWAN CITY – Motorcycle gunmen killed an army sergeant in a broad daylight attack in Pikit town in North Cotabato province in southern Philippines, police said on Sunday.
Police said the soldier, Salilin Guiapal, was travelling on a motorcycle when he was shot by one of two gunmen who tailed him in the village of Manaulanan on Saturday.
“We are investigating the killing,” said Chief Inspector Donald Cabigas, the local police chief. He said the soldier was a member of the 7Ist Infantry Battalion.
The assailants fled after the killing. No individual or group claimed responsibility for the murder. (Rhoderick Beñez)
