ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Oct. 16, 2012) – An unidentified gunman shot dead a finance officer of the Basilan provincial government and took away his bag containing over P2 million in payroll, police said on Tuesday.

It said the Nurhasan Sakili was killed minutes after stepping out of a local bank in Isabela City. Sakili was heading back to his office when the attack occurred Monday afternoon.

The assailant escaped on a motorcycle driven by a masked man and police said the duo took some P2.4 million in salaries for the employees.

Police said robbery was likely motive of the killing. It was not immediately known why Sakili has no security escort or how the gunmen knew the victim was carrying a huge amount of money. (Mindanao Examiner)
