BASILAN – Motorcycle gunmen shot dead a former village chieftain in a daring attack Monday in Isabela City in Basilan, one of 5 provinces under the Muslim autonomous region.
Police said two gunmen were involved in the murder of Omar Asahad, who was attacked in the village called La Piedad. Asahad, a resident of Sumisip town, was killed instantly.
The unidentified assailants escaped after the murder. No individual claimed responsibility for the killing which coincided with the Eid’l Adha or Feast of Sacrifice, one of the most important holidays for Muslims. (Mindanao Examiner)
