
DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 13, 2013) – An eleven-year old daughter of a police officer was seriously wounded after gunmen attacked their house in Dipolog City in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Norte, a police spokesman said Tuesday.
Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca said the gunmen escaped on motorcycles after the attack and that police have launched an operation to hunt down the assailants.
Huesca said six gunmen strafed the house of Senior Inspector Rolando Matinong, intelligence officer of the Dipolog City police force, in the village of Estaka.
He said Matinong exchanged gunfire with the attackers and that the officer has identified two of the assailants as brothers Anito and Arbiv Batingal.
Huesca said the girl was shot in the head during the strafing.
Police did not say the motive of the attack. (Mindanao Examiner)
