
MANILA – The National Steering Committee on National Observances headed by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines said various activities for the June 12 celebration of Independence Day are all lined up and this year’s theme is “Pagsunod sa Yapak ng mga Dakilang Pilipino, Tungo sa Malawakan at Permanenteng Pagbabago”.
It said simultaneous flag-raising and wreath-laying rites will be conducted at exactly 8:00 a.m. at the Plaza Quince Martires, Naga City with President Benigno S. Aquino III as Guest-of-Honor.
Activities at the Plaza Quince Martires will be replicated at the Rizal National Monument, Rizal Park, Manila; Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine, Kawit, Cavite; Barasoain Church Historical Landmark, Malolos City,Bulacan; Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine, San Juan City; Bonifacio National Monument, Caloocan City; Mausoleo de los Veteranos de la Revolucion, North Cemetery, Manila; and the Pamintuan House, Angeles City.
Various cultural events and performances will be showcased at selected SM Malls and at the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium, Manila. Mga Pampamahalaang Programa at Serbisyo, wherein government agencies will present their flagship projects and community services will be held from 11-12 June at the Burnham Green, Rizal Park, Manila.
Free medical, dental and optical services spearheaded by the Department of Health will be held on 12 June from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m at the shaded area of Burnham Green.
Job Fair will be held on 12 June at the South Drive fronting Army and Navy Club from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
