PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 23, 2012) – Heavy rains submerged many villages in the Zamboanga Peninsula in the southern Philippines, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.

The provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Sur reported that several towns were flooded and that some houses and schools had been affected by rampaging waters from overflowing rivers.
In Zamboanga City, some villages were also submerged and affected many families, although no casualties had been reported.
Government weather experts said the heavy rains would continue in the coming days and warned those living in mountain slopes and seaside villages and river banks to take extra precaution. (Mindanao Examiner)
