SULTAN KUDARAT (Mindanao Examiner / July 21, 2014) – Philippine authorities on Monday disarmed an improvised explosive left near a creek in President Quirino town in the southern province of Sultan Kudarat, officials said.

Officials said the explosive was assembled from an 81mm mortar bomb recovered in the village of Katiku near where farmers were resting.

Village chieftain Sancho Salamanca said police and soldiers were sent to the area to disarm the explosive, but it was not immediately known who was behind the failed bombing. He said police are investigating the case. (Rose Muneza)
