DAVAO CITY – An Indian national and his Filipino girlfriend are facing criminal charges over the alleged kidnapping of a compatriot in Davao City in southern Philippines, officials said Sunday.
Officials said Jerry Singh and Filipina Josie Unas and two other men were implicated in the recent kidnapping of the 31-year old Malih Jaspar Singh, who managed to escape from his guards in their hideout also in Davao City.
The suspects were tracked down and eventually arrested by the police. They were also presented to Rodrigo Duterte, the local mayor, who vowed to pursue the criminal charges against the alleged kidnappers.
Malih, who is engaged in lending money to small traders, was seized in Davao City. Ransom was likely the motive for the kidnapping. (Mindanao Examiner)
