
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Mar. 5, 2014) – A man was shot inside a passenger jeep by an unidentified assailant late Wednesday in a new gun attack in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, local officials said.
Officials said the victim was in a passenger jeep when shot by another passenger in Talon-Talon village.
Village chieftain Teodyver Arquiza said the jeep came from the neighboring village of Arena Blanco and was heading to downtown Zamboanga when the shooting occurred.
He said the gunman just casually walked away after shooting the victim in the head.
Police said the victim was rushed to Zamboanga City Medical Center. Hospital staffs declined to release the identity of the victim and police said it is still investigating the shooting.
Gun attacks are rampant in Zamboanga City with killings occurring almost every day. Most of the attacks have been largely blamed to hired killers who are actively operating in Zamboanga. (Mindanao Examiner)
