He said the task force composed of the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation for the purpose of finding, arresting, and detaining the fugitive Palparan.
Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda also called on Palparan to surrender peacefully.
“Retired Major General Jovito Palapran, formerly so bold and brazen, and lavishly coddled by the former administration, is now a fugitive from justice,” he said.
“While he no longer has men under his command, and while he can no longer behave with impunity, it is incumbent upon Mr. Palparan to submit to the authorities and face the charges in court. We would hope that he will face the music and face the charges. Surrender now. Come out, come out wherever you are,” he added.
Palparan went into hiding after he tried recently to fly to Singapore , but immigration officials prevented him from fleeing the country. It was unknown why Palparan was not immediately arrested at the airport in Manila .
The former military commander and his men were implicated in the abduction of University of the Philippines students Sherlyn Cadapan and Karen Empeño, and farmer Manuel Merino.
Palparan has repeatedly denied all accusations against him. (Mindanao Examiner)
