DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / July 15, 2014) – The Kiwanis Clubs of Agila Dabaw and Hamog Dabaw have launched recently a feeding program and jointly led the ground breaking ceremony for Kabacan Elementary School’s nutrition center.

The activity was spearheaded by the school principal Apolinario C. Gambuta, Barangay 76-A Chairman Rolando Trajera, Kiwanis club presidents Angel T. Torrejon and Erdsan Rene S. Suero. They also signed a memorandum of agreement for the implementation of the continuing program.

Aside from the improvement of the nutrition center, the project also includes  the construction of an additional feeding area, provision of the needed fixtures, utensils, food packages and supplies for the severely wasted children and educating the community on proper nutrition.

Gambuta said they have already identified 93 malnourished school children of which the program should give preferential attention and continued support.

Trajera praised and thanked the two Kiwanis clubs for selecting Kabacan Elementary School as the beneficiary of the noble project and encouraged the group to expand the program to other schools and daycare centers in the barangay.

Kiwanis is a global organization of member-volunteers working to change the world, one child and one community at a time. Its primary focus is serving the children of the world.
