DAVAO CITY – The Kiwanis Club of Agila Dabaw has celebrated the “Kiwanis One Day” with over 700,000 fellow Kiwanis club members around the world in a united day of service on with feeding program and painting of a school building and fence mural depicting the rights of a child at Kabacan Elementary School in Ma-a district in Davao City.

“Kiwanis One Day gives our service clubs around the world the opportunity to work together on one day, proving that our global service organization can make a difference in communities around the world. Kiwanis estimates that nearly one million hours will be donated to service projects ranging from sprucing up playgrounds and parks to painting buildings to planting trees,” Engr. Erdsan Rene S. Suero, the club president, said in a statement sent to the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.

Nearly every club in Kiwanis International, including Kiwanis Clubs, Aktion Clubs, Circle K International, Key Clubs, Builders Clubs and K-Kids, volunteered with this One Day project, according to Suero.

“Kids need Kiwanis, in our community, and in communities around the world. This project helps the kids and is one way we can contribute to making our community a great place for children to thrive and grow. It’s also fun knowing that while we’re making a difference in our community, Kiwanis clubs around the world also are making a difference in their communities,” he said.

Suero also praised the local Kiwanis members for their hard work and dedication in serving the community.

“We are proud to join our fellow Kiwanis family members around the globe to participate in Kiwanis One Day. The energy, commitment and camaraderie surrounding this single day make the experience of hands-on service even more gratifying for our members as they make an immediate, measurable impact on the school community,” Suero said.
