KSA antiterror policy ‘praised globally’ – Arab News

Editor November 24, 2015

The Kingdom’s successful antiterrorism policy has been praised worldwide, according to an official at Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS).
Jamaan bin Rashid bin Raqoush, rector of the university, said recently at a seminar that the Kingdom was one of the first countries to develop an antiterrorism strategy because of attacks domestically by radical groups.
“The Kingdom has spared no efforts in combating terrorism on a global level, including its decision to establish the International Center for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT), with a donation of $110 million.”
Raqoush said the Kingdom was tackling terrorism physically out in the field and at the level of education and awareness. This includes criminalizing the support and membership of extremist groups.
On the recent terrorist bombings in the Kingdom, Raqoush said: “They were brutal crimes targeting innocent people and aimed at destabilizing the country.”
He said these terrorist organizations do not respect religious teachings and human rights values. There was also a complete misunderstanding of religious principles.
He said the seminar was held to build patriotism and promote intellectual security in accordance with the directions of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and interior minister.
He said that bolstering intellectual security would prevent terrorist crimes. The university has developed several scientific courses in this regard, and encouraged postgraduate students to conduct studies and research in the field.(SULTAN AL-SUGHAIR)
