Laban sa breast cancer, pinalakas sa Taguig City!

TAGUIG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 14, 2013) – Pinalakas ngayon ng pamahalaan ang kampanya kontra sa nakamamatay na breast cancer sa pagbubukas ng Breast Screening Center sa Taguig-Pateros District Hospital.

Ang pasilidad ay may makabagong mammogram at x-ray machine at bahagi ng breast cancer awareness program ng pamahalaan.  

Tiniyak naman ni Dr. Isaias Ramos, officer-in-charge ng City Health Office, na libre ang breast cancer screening para sa lahat ng mga residente ng Taguig at aalalay din ang pamahalaang lungsod sa gamutan ng mga matutuklasang nagtataglay na ng cancer.

Una rito ay ipinatupad ng pamahalaan ang “Ating Dibdibin” project sa pakikipagtulungan ng “I Can Serve Foundation” na binubuo ng mga breast cancer survivor at nagsusulong ng “early breast cancer detection” sa pamamagitan ng epektibong information campaign at community-based screenings.

Dahil sa pagtutulungan, ito ay nakapagsagawa ng libreng breast screening sa 28 barangay ng Taguig.

“Binabati ko ang Taguig dahil ito ang kauna-unahang LGU na nagkaroon ng mammogram. Pakikinabangan ito ng mas marami pang kababaihan dahil hindi na nila kakailanganing magtungo ng Philippine General Hospital para lamang sa mammography,” paliwanag pa ni Lyn Catuncan, project manager ng Ating Dibdibin.

Sa naisagawang breast screening sa 28 barangay ay umabot sa 1,700 ang bilang ng kababaihang may kahina-hinalang bukol sa dibdib.

Sang-ayon sa I Can Serve Foundation, ang Pilipinas ay kabilang sa may pinakamaraming bilang ng kababaihan na may breast cancer.
