ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 2, 2013) – Local village officials have expressed their all-out support to the new administration of Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Salazar.

The Liga ng mga Barangay has approved and passed a resolution declaring its full support to Salazar.

“The Liga, in answer to the call of every barangay in Zamboanga City, also conveyed its dedication for the chief executive’s legislative program as a manifestation of their gratitude and support. Among the notable thrusts of the Climaco administration are her priorities for Security, Health and Education,” said a City Hall statement sent to the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.

It said the resolution further highlighted Salazar as a strong and principled individual, and her determination to “promote efficient and effective governance” and safeguard the general welfare of every barangay.

The Liga ng mga Barangay, also known as the League of Barangays (villages) of the Philippines, is a formal organization of all barangays in the Philippines.

Salazar appreciated the resolution and thanked the Liga ng mga Barangay for its declaration of support and stressing that her administration needs all the support and cooperation of all sectors in order to achieve the common goal of bringing progress and development in the city.

The mayor called on the public to join hands with the City Government and help ensure a better future for the constituents particularly the young generation.

Zamboanga has 98 barangays.
