
DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 24, 2013) – A man who was recently freed from prison was shot dead by a lone assailant while drinking with friends in Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte province in southern Philippines, police said.
Police said Edgar Partosa, 43, was instantly killed in the attack which occurred at Purok Malipayon in the village of Miputak. The gunman escaped after Partosa several times and investigators said five bullet casings from .45-caliber pistol were recovered from the scene.
Partosa was recently released from jail in May on order from Judge Rogelio Laquihon, of the Regional Trial Court Branch 6 after dismissing the criminal case against the man for
violation of Section, 11 Paragraph 3, Article II of Republic Act 9165 – also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act – under criminal case docketed under criminal case number 11673.
Police said Partosa was with his friends at a convenience store when the gunman arrived and without any warning opened fire on the victim. It was unknown whether any of Partosa’s drinking buddies were able to identify the killer.
The motive of the attack is also unknown, but police are investigating the murder. (Mindanao Examiner)
