DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 18, 2013) – Gunmen shot and wounded a motorcycle rider in the town of Leon Postigo in Zamboanga del Norte province, police said.
It said the victim, Junel Otod, 22, was travelling when he was shot in the face by armed men who were on pick-up truck in the village of Talinga. The gunmen, thinking that Otod was killed, carried and threw him in the river and then stole his new motorcycle and sped away.
Otod, despite his wound, managed to seek help from villagers who rushed him to the hospital in Sindangan town. He told police investigators that the gunmen on a red truck blocked his path and then without any warning shot him once in the face and threw him to the nearby river.
Police said village chieftain Charlito Patoc reported the said incident to the local police station. (Mindanao Examiner)
