
ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 6, 2013) – A man stabbed and wounded three people, including a cop, before he was fatally shot by a police officer in Ipil town in the southern Filipino province of Zamboanga Sibugay.
Police said the assailant, Christopher Enguito, 20, stole two kitchen knives from a store called Saver’s Mart and ran away after he was accosted by a clerk. Outside the store, he attacked Rosito Omelia without apparent reason and then stabbed another man, Roldan Tuble, while evading arrest from pursuing policemen.
When cornered by policemen, Enguito attacked and wounded PO1 Arnel Dagatan, who was tried to arrest the man.
Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, a regional police spokesman, who was in the area with PO1 Jefferson Adjarani, shot the attacker in his leg after he attempted to attack them. The assailant was rushed to hospital, but died while undergoing medical treatment.
Witnesses told police investigators that Enguito had attacked every innocent people he saw on the street and that some managed to escape unhurt as went on a stabbing rampage while policemen were pursuing him. (Mindanao Examiner)
