DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 13, 2014) – Police on Friday said a 29-year old man has surrendered peacefully after holding his partner and the woman’s four children by her first marriage for 13 hours following a heated argument inside their house in Dipolog City in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Norte.
Police said the drama began when Junrey Duhaylungsod engaged his partner Shahani Señoron, 23, in a heated argument and eventually holding the woman and her children hostage.
The argument broke out after Duhaylungsod told his partner to discipline her children.
Police convinced Duhaylungsod, who was armed with a kitchen knife, to free all hostages and he released them all, one after the other, and surrendered without a fight to the police led by Superintendent Joven Parcon.
Duhaylungsod has been detained the police jail while officers prepare charges against him. (Mindanao Examiner)
