GENERAL SANTOS CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 27, 2013) – Filipino boxing superstar and lawmaker Manny Pacquiao is now the wealthiest congressman in the Philippines with a net worth P1.8 billion as of 2012.

Pacquiao, who represents Sarangani province in Congress, is the world’s first eight division champion, who recently won a re-election on Mindanao Island.

A former market boy, Pacquiao worked his way up to the ladder of success and has become the symbol or hope and an inspiration to many young boxers not only in his hometown, but the whole country as well.

A known philanthropist, Pacquiao has a soft spot in his heart for the poor and is one of the country’s largest individual donator of pro-poor projects in Sarangani and other parts of Mindanao.

His supporters and followers have repeatedly urged Pacquiao to run for the vice presidency and even the presidency in the 2016 elections.

Pacquiao is also a popular charismatic leader in the Philippines. (Mindanao Examiner)
