ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 1, 2014) – Masked gunmen barged in a house in Zamboanga City and shot and wounded a woman before fleeing after the victims husband engaged the assailants in a brief firefight, police said.
Police said the woman, Betty Tayco, 22, was in the kitchen when the gunmen barged in the house in the village of Salaan and shot her in the leg. Her husband, Percival, managed to get his gun and clashed with the attackers.
The couple then sought ran for cover and sought help from the woman’s family nearby.
The woman was rushed to hospital, but the motive of the attack is still unknown. Police said it is investigating the attack to determine the identities of the assailants. (Mindanao Examiner)
