Mataas na surcharge ng Zambo electric coop, aprubado ng NEA

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Inginuso ng Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative ang isang board member nito na umano’y siyang nagpanukala na taasan ang interest rate o surcharge nito sa mga late payments ng kuryente mula 5% at ngayon ay 10% na.

Sinabi ni Engineer Edgardo Ancheta, ang tumatayong general manager ng ZAMCELCO, na si Ricky Lim ang siyang nasa likod ng pagtataas ng surcharge at ito ay inayunan rin ng ibang mga board members sa ilalim ni Omar Sahi, ang presidente ng Board of Directors.

Inalmahan ng publiko ang pagtataas ng surcharge matapos itong ipatupad nitong buwan lamang. Sa bagong billing statement ng ZAMCELCO ay 10% agad ang interest nito sa mga hindi agad makakapagbayad ng kanilang kuryente. Ayon kay Ancheta, aprubado ng National Electrification Administration ang pagtataas ng interest rate sa mga consumers na hindi makakabayad sa takdang oras. Automatic na rin sa billing statement ang dagdag na interest.

Ito ay sa kabila ng mga malalaking kampanya at planta, at mga ahensya ng pamahalaan, kabilang ang City Hall na may utang sa ZAMCELCO. Bukod pa ang mga customers na umano’y malalaki ang utang, ngunit hindi naman piniputulan ng kuryente. At ang iba naman ay isinasailalim sa “re-structuring” ng kanilang utang at karamihan sa mga ito ay mistulang “very important persons” dahil hindi naman ito napapakinabangan ng ibang customers na may malaking utang.

Talamak rin ang illegal connections sa iba’t-ibang barangay, ngunit hindi naman ito inaaksyunan ng ZAMCELCO at wala pang nabalitaanan na may idinemanda ito na magnanakaw ng kuryente. Sobra ang taas rin ng “system loss” ng ZAMCELCO dahil dito.

Lubog sa utang ang ZAMCELCO na tinatayang nasa mahigit P1 bilyon. Ilang manager na ang umupo sa ZAMCELCO, ngunit sinibak rin dahil sa iba’t-ibang eskandalo at anomalya. Bumili pa ang cooperative ng mga generator sets na hindi naman magamit upang mabigyan ng sapat na kuryente ang lungsod kung may blackout. (Mindanao Examiner)
