State-run universities na nagtuturo ng agrikultura, sinabon ni Sen. Villar

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Dapat umanong turuan ang mga mag-aaral na kumukuha ng kursong agrikultura na bumalik sa bukid at ayusin ang pagsasaka para kumita.

Ito ang pahayag ni Senador Cynthia Villar sa isang news conference sa University of Southern Mindanao kasabay ng isinagawang 72nd Commencement Exercises ng unibersidad nitong Huwebes. Sinabon din nito ang ilang mga state-run universities na nagaalok ng kursong may kaugnayan sa agrikultura na hintuan ang puro theories at research.

Si Senator Cynthia Villar ay makikitang naglalakad sa larawang ito mula sa Facebook page ni Dr. Josephine Migalbin, Dean ng College of Agriculture ng University of Southern Mindanao sa Kabacan, North Cotabato.

Aniya, dapat turuan ng tamang pagsasaka ang mga estudyante upang bumalik sa bukid at ayusin ito upang kumita ng pera. Giit ng senadora na malaki ang pera sa agrikultura kung ito ay napagtuunan ng pansin. Pinintasan din nito ang ilang mga unibersidad na walang small farm management at puro lamang teorya ang itinuturo.

Samantala, nagpahayag naman ng reaksiyon si Villar hinggil sa isyu ng Conditional Cash Transfer o CCT program ng pamahalaan. Aniya, kung ililipat man sa agrikultura ang pondo para sa Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program para pondohan ang livelihood, dapat transition o dahan dahan itong gagawin.

Inihalimbawa nito sa ibang bansa na iba ang pamamaraan ng kanilang CCT doon kungsaan hindi nagbibigay ng pera ang gobyerno kundi pagkain na binibili naman mula sa mga magsasaka. Kagaya ng bansang Thailand kung saan ino-obligang painumin ang nasa anim na milyung mga kabataan ng 200ML na gatas kada araw. (Rhoderick Beñez)
