Militar: Labanan sa Marawi, tapos na

MARAWI CITY – Pormal ng inanunsyo kahapon ng militar ang pagtatapos ng giyera sa Marawi at itinapat pa ito sa ika-limang kabuwanan ng pagsakop ng ISIS sa naturang lungsod.

Natagpuan umano sa isang gusali na pinagkutaan ng ISIS ang mahigit sa tatlong dosenang bangkay, kabilang ang dalawang babae na hinihinalang asawa o kaanak ng mga napatay doon.

Ayon naman kay Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana ay tagumpay na napigil ng pamahalaang Duterte ang pagkalat ng impluwensya ng radikal na  ISIS hindi lamang sa Mindanao, kundi sa rehiyon ng Asya.

Sinabi pa ng militar na pumalo na sa halos 900 ang napaslang na jihadist mula pa noon Mayo 23 ng magsimula ang sagupaan. Nasa 165 mga sundalo naman at 47 sibilyan ang napaslang rin, dagdag pa ng militar.

Sa kabila ng anunsyo ng militar ay patuloy pa rin kahapon ang panaka-nakang palitan ng putok at pagsabog sa binansagang “main battle area” dahil sa mga umano’y “stragglers” o maliit na bilang ng mga jihadist na tumatakas mula sa operasyon ng mga tropa.

Mahigit sa 200,000 residente ang nawalan ng tahanan at hanap-buhay dahil sa kaguluhan ng magtangka ang ISIS na gawin lalawigan nito ang Marawi na siyang kabisera ng Lanao del Sur sa magulong Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Idineklara ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na liberated ang Marawi matapos na mapaslang ng mga tropa kamakailan ang pinuno nitong si Isnilon Hapilon at commander na si Omar Maute at Malaysian jihadist Dr Mahmud Ahmad. (Mindanao Examiner)
