Militar nagbuhos ng puwersa sa Basilan kontra MILF

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 20, 2011) – Ibinuhos na ng militar sa Basilan province ang napakaraming sundalo upang tugusin ang grupo ng Moro Islamic Liberation Front sa kabila ng cease-fire ng pamahalaan sa rebeldeng grupo.

Dumating na sa Basilan ang isang buong 104th Infantry Brigade at bukod pa ito sa Special Forces na naroon na upang habulin ang grupo ni Dan Asnawi, ang ikalawang pinakamataas na lider ng MILF sa lalawigan.

Nakasagupa nuong nakaraang buwan ng militar ang grupo ni Asnawi at napatay nito ang 19 na Special Forces na itinuturing na elite sa hanay ng Armed Forces of the Philippines sa matinding labanan.

“Tuloy-tuloy naman yun operations natin against kina Asnawi at tumutulong tayo sa pulisya to arrest those who are responsible sa pagkamatay ng mga sundalo natin,” ani Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang, ang spokesman ng Western Mindanao Command.

Ngunit wala ng balita tungkol kay Asnawi at kung nasaan ito matapos ng labanan na naganap sa bayan ng Al-Barka. Pinasok ng mga Special Forces ang kuta ng MILF upang arestuhin si Asnawi sa hinalang sabit ito sa mga kidnappings for ransom at terorismo.

Itinanggi naman ng MILF ang akusasyon laban kay Asnawi at sinabing may cease-fire ang pamahalaan at rebeldeng grupo at anumang atake sa kanila ay maituturing na paglabag sa truce agreement.
