Military ‘asset’ ginamit sa air strike!

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Mar. 23, 2012) – Kinumpirma sa Midnanao Examiner ng isang opisyal ng militar na isang “asset” ang siyang naging susi sa tagumpay na operasyon sa isinagawang air strike nuong nakaraang buwan sa isang kampo ng Abu Sayyaf sa Sulu province.

Isang honing device ang ginamit ng “asset” na siyang nagsilbing giya sa dalawang eroplanong OV-10 ng Philippine Air Force upang matiyak na mahahagip ng mga 500 lbs. na bomba ang target sa Barangay Lanao Dakula sa bayan ng Parang.

Ang “asset” ay isang military slang na ang ibig sabihin ay espiya o impormante.

Sinabi ng militar na napatay sa naturang raid sina Abu Sayyaf leader Umbra Jumdail, ang Malaysian na si Zulkifli bin Hir, alias Marwan, at Indian Abdullah Ali, alias Muawiyah, na parehong miyembro ng Indonesian terror group Jemaah Islamiya.

Isang US spy plane ang siyang tumulong umano sa militar upang matunton ang kinaroroonan ng kampo.

Sinabi pa ng isang military source na binalikan pa ng “asset” ang naturang kampo matapos na ito’y bombahin upang masigurong napatay nga ang mga terorista. Ito rin ang kinumpirma ng isang source rin sa Sulu.

Sina Zulkifli at Abdullah ay parehong nasa US wanted list at may reward na $5 milyon at $50,000 bawat isa, at si Jumdail naman ay may $140,000 bounty sa kanyang ulo.

Inamin na ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino na gumagamit ang militar ng mga unmanned aerial vehicle o spy drone ng US military, partikular ng Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines na nakabase sa Zamboanga City. (Mindanao Examiner)
