PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 18, 2013) – A member of the army-led militia unit shot and wounded his companion in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Sur, police said.
It said victim Mario Ambongan, 25, was accidentally shot by Nonie Sigva, 42, after being mistaken for somebody else in the village of Suminalum in Kumalarang town. Police said the shooting occurred on night time.
Ambongan suffered from shotgun wounds in his chest and right leg and was rushed to the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center in Pagadian City.
Police said the Sigva voluntarily surrendered to the authorities and said the shooting was accidental. It was not immediately known whether the victim’s family would file criminal charges or not. (Mindanao Examiner)
