ZAMBOANGA CITY – A teenage girl who was reported missing by her family in Zamboanga City was found brutally murdered – her hand chopped off – and police were investigating whether she was raped and then killed.
Her relatives said Marlyn Mariano was last seen together with a group of teenagers, who were allegedly spotted sniffing solvent, but it was not immediately known whether they had something to do with the killing of the 18-year old victim.
Her decomposing body was discovered by her aunt Manuela Atilano not far away from their house in the village of Sinunuc, and told the police about the cadaver.
“I was gathering firewood when I noticed that smell and I thought it was a dead animal only to find out that it is a body of a girl,” she said.
Police said the victim left home last month and was never off again until her body had been found on September 15. (Mindanao Examiner)
