ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Mar. 7, 2014) – The Department of Trade and Industry said it will conduct a two-day seminar for investors who would like to venture into modern rubber production in the town of Ipil in Zamboanga Sibugay province.
Regional Trade Directress Amina Jain said the seminar, which would be held at the Casa Mea Hotel on March 11, is first of many trainings and product development, and other forms of assistance for micro, small and medium enterprises under the DTI’s SME Roving Academy program.
She said the upcoming seminar is also open to existing rubber farmers, processors, traders, and other rubber industry stakeholders who would like to adopt new technologies in their farms to enhance production and improve the quality of natural rubber produced.
“A topic on marketing and pricing of natural rubber is also included in the program, including field visits to enable participants to actually see the operation of select rubber nurseries, plantations and processing plants in Zamboanga Sibugay,” Jain said.
