
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 7, 2013) – A money trader was shot and wounded by one of five men who posed as passengers of a jeep in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said Wednesday.
Police said Andres Go, 66, who owns a foreign exchange shop in Zamboanga, was shot in the face in the village of Santa Barbara. His companion, Jimbang Haliluddin, 40, was unhurt from the attack.
Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, a regional police spokesman, said the duo was on its way to the village of Rio Hondo when the gunman declared the robbery. The assailant grabbed Go’s bag containing some P20,000 and shot him once in the face before the gang escaped.
Go was rushed to hospital, but his condition is still unknown.
Huesca said police launched an investigation into the case and that a team is tracking down the assailants in Zamboanga. (Mindanao Examiner)
