ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Apr. 24, 2013) – A Filipino couple engaged in money lending were shot and killed on Wednesday in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said.

Police said the victims Francisco Natividad, 58, and Myrna Natividad, 50, were shot by two gunmen in the village of Talon-Talon while waiting for a ride.

Witnesses said motorcycle gunmen first shot the man and then the woman before escaping with the couple’s bag, believed to contain a huge amount of collection money.

Police said investigators recovered bullet shells fired from a 9mm and .45-caliber pistols from the crime scene.

No individual has claimed responsibility for the twin killings, but police suspect robbery was the motive the attack. Killings in Zamboanga City are not uncommon and hired killers are actively operating here. (Mindanao Examiner)
