MARIKINA (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 20, 2013) – The City Government of Marikina has donated half a millions pesos for typhoon victims in Davao Oriental province in the southern Philippines.

Mayor Del De Guzman handed over the cheque to the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental in a simple ceremony in Marikina City recently.

We all know how it is to be in that situation,” De Guzman said while expressing his sympathy for the families affected by the recent disaster.

Davao Oriental Vice Governor Almario said expressed his appreciation to the people of Marikina and the local government for the donation, which was turned over to Provincial Treasurer Adelinda Amacna.

The Zamboanga Del Norte Association of California, a group of Zamboanga natives residing in California, also turned over to the Provincial Government a total of 13 boxes of medicines and medical supplies for the three severely-hit municipalities of Boston, Cateel and Baganga.

ZAMNAC coordinated with the Mati Masons represented by lawyer Arturo Ladera to formally turn over their relief donations to the Provincial Government through Vice Governor Joel Almario at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Complex in Mati City.

Earlier this year, different local governments also donated cash to the Davao Oriental to help victims of Typhoon Bopha which devastated the province. The Provincial Treasurer’s Office said it has raised a total of P36.7 million from local and international cash donations as of February 19.
