MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday has raised the rainfall warning signal over Metro Manila, state media reported.
It said more intense rainfall is expected in most parts of the metropolis.
PAGASA raised its green warning signal to red later in the afternoon after it noted increased torrential rains.
The red warning signal means the public should expect heavy to intense rainfall from 16 mm to 30mm per hour. PAGASA warned residents in high-risk areas to take precautionary measures.
It said rains were reported over Quezon City, Manila and Marikina Pasig, CAMANAVA, Taguig and Pasay.
“The rains were caused by the occurence of a series of thunderstorm which is commonly associated with rains of high intensity,” PAGASA said on its twitter account.
In its 5 p.m. advisory, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon is still affecting Luzon Island.
