TACURONG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 15, 2014) – A motorcycle driver was killed in a head on collision with a van Sunday in Tacurong City, police said.
Police said the van driver, Alejandro Guire, 53, of General Santos City, surrendered to the police after the accident that killed Daryl Barri, 22, a resident of Sultan Kudarat’s Bagumbayan town.
The accident occurred before dawn at the national highway where both vehicles were travelling on opposite directions.
Barri’s family has claimed his body, but it was unknown whether the victim’s parents would press charges against Guire, who is now detained at the local police jail.
Police said the motorcycle driver had no helmet and was also travelling without a driver’s license. (Rose Muneza and Sheen Pania)
