ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 5, 2013) – A 28-year old Muslim man was brutally killed following a heated argument with his attackers in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said on Monday.

Police said Alraben Jallao was arguing with his attackers who seized him from his house in Lower Calarian village over the weekend.

Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, a regional police spokesman, said Jallao was quoted by his neighbors as saying “Bakit ako sisisihin ninyo?” (Why blame me?) as three gunmen dragged him out to the street where they executed and beheaded him.

The assailants escaped after the killing and taking with them the man’s head, Huesca said.

Jallao’s body was peppered with bullets and police investigators recovered 55 bullet casings of M16 automatic rifle and .45-caliber pistol from the scene.

Huesca said relatives immediately buried Jallao’s body in accordance with Islamic rituals. The motive of the grisly killing is still unknown and family members and relatives have not given any statement to the police about the murder.

“Deeper investigation is being conducted to determine the identities of the suspects and their motive and to locate the decapitated head of the victim,” Huesca said.

Gun attacks are not uncommon in Zamboanga City where killings continue unabated. Hired killers are actively operating in Zamboanga and they were largely blamed for the spate of attacks here. Most of the cases remain unresolved. (Mindanao Examiner)
