PM Najib Tables Recalibrated 2016 Budget – Bernama

Editor January 28, 2016

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today tabled the recalibrated Budget 2016, with the changes aimed at making it more realistic to reflect the current economic scenario.

Najib, who is also Finance Minister, tabled the revised budget at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) here.

The modified budget will keep in mind what is regarded as beneficial for the people and the markets, especially in relation to the national fiscal policy and finances, measures to boost the nation’s revenue, optimising expenditures, and setting new priorities.

Najib had earlier held meetings and discussions with various quarters including economic analaysts, industry leaders, members of the Special Economic Committee (JKE) as well as representatives of consumer bodies and government-linked companies (GLCs) to finalise the amendments to the budget.

The comprehensive consultation process was aimed at getting views and proposals to be considered for inclusion in the adjusted budget.

Treasury Secretary-Gneral Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah was earlier reported as saying that the government was expected to announce a new average oil price on which to base the budget projections amid falling crude oil prices.(Bernama)
