“Until such a notice is duly served to the Department of Labor and Employment and to the workers, the claim of shutting down and closing shop remains to be a threat waved by Nakashin to suppress the strike.”

“Instead of facing the workers’ demands to be made regular employees, Nakashin has decided this track. If indeed the company has incurred losses, it cannot pin the blame on the strike. It only had to follow the law on regularization, comply with the labor standards, and reinstate those it illegally dismissed for the strike to be lifted. The workers did not demand wage increases or additional rights and privileges set by the law – it only demanded that Nakashin and its owner Sumihiro Nakao obey the law,” pahayag pa ng KMU.
