Two months from now, the nation will mark the fourth year since the Ampatuan Massacre.
Justice remains far from sight. Of the 196 accused of committing the massacre, 93 remain at large. Witnesses have been either barred from testifying or silenced through intimidation or killings.
Media murders remain unabated. After Maguindanao, we have seen 22 more journalists being killed–17 of whom died under Pres. Benigno Aquino III’s watch.
Impunity perpetrates after the massacre. Greed and lust for power by some have continued to lead to massive misuse of public funds and attacks against those who fight to put an end to corruption.
Join us tomorrow, Sept. 24, 2:00 pm, at the Kuniberata Hall, St. Scholastica’s College Manila, to mark the 46th month since the massacre.
Also starting tomorrow, “Never Forget”, an exhibit of photos on the aftermath of the massacre, will be open for viewing.
