New Kiwanis Club of Agila Dabaw to receive Charter

DAVAO CITY – The new Kiwanis Club of Agila Dabaw will receive its official recognition in the organization at a ceremony and dinner on Saturday at Ritz Hotel and Garden Oases Convention Center in Davao City.

Jose Ramon S. Altavas, Kiwanis Asia Pacific Chairman – Elect and Raul S. Tolentino, Philippine South District Past District Governor, will present the club with its charter.

Jeffrey Jess S. Mataro, Division 7 Lt. Governor, will induct the charter officers and members while Past District Governor Marit Stinus Cabugon will charge them.

Kiwanis is a global organization of member-volunteers working to change the world, one child and one community at a time. Its primary focus is serving the children of the world.

Charter officers of the newly formed club are Erdsan Rene S. Suero, president; Roderick R. Tecson, president-elect; Juliet T. Luy, 1st vice president; Rafael E. Bermejo, 2nd vice president; Alvin F. Alcantara, 3rd vice president; Mary Ann R. Oani, secretary; and Cresilda T. Caballero, treasurer. Directors are Hilario A. Fernandez, Nelson S. Palermo, Juan Claudio Y. Tinga and Angel T. Torrejon.

Other charter members are Alan A. Caballero, Julius M. Divino, Edwin C. Idemne, Flordeluna J. Juyo, Joreen Joon T. Luy, Sonia S. Montesclaros, Silvino G. Presto Jr., Lexinne Mae P. Ricafort and Christine O. Suero. The designated new club builder is Achiles S. Rallos, Past Lt. Governor of Division 7.

“The holding of this charter ceremony is the official recognition of this club to the Kiwanis International family,” Mataro said in a statement sent to the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.

He said the event will also be graced by the Kiwanis Philippine South District Lt. Governors and Lt. Governors-Elect headed by its District Governor Gabrielito A. Prado, who is now in the city for his  visit and holding of the annual leadership training.

The organization of this new club is jointly sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Hamog Dabaw, Inc., Kiwanis Club of Davao City, Kiwanis Club of Royale Davao, Kiwanis Club of Golden Tagum, Kiwanis Club of Tagum, Inc.; Kiwanis Club of Cosmopolitan Detroit, Michigan, USA; Kiwanis Club of United Davao and the Kiwanis Club of Pag-asa Davao.

Angel T. Torrejon, immediate past president of the Kiwanis Club of Hamog Dabaw and the club seed member is the lone sponsoring Kiwanian of all 20 charter members thus humbly recognized as the noble mentor of this new Kiwanis club.
