NORTH COTABATO – Police were searching for a village chieftain who evaded a raid in his house in the town of Midsayap in North Cotabato province in southern Philippines.
Police said Renz Tukuran, of Lomopog village, fled even before the raiders arrived and left a cache of weapons and drug paraphernalia inside his house. Some of Tukuran’s followers also escaped the police raid.
A local court issued a warrant to the police for them to be able to search Tukuran’s house on suspicion that there were illegal weapons and drugs owned by the politician, who is allegedly a senior leader of the former rebel group Moro National Liberation Front.
Police seized at least 3 machine guns, three grenade launchers and a B40 anti-tank rocket. The politician’s family did not give any statement on the raid. (Mindanao Examiner)
