Office of ARMM Governor awarded ISO certification on quality service

Desk Editor March 24, 2016

COTABATO CITY – The Office of the Regional Governor in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ORG-ARMM) has been awarded an ISO 9001:2008 certification that affirms its compliance to internationally accepted standard on quality customer service.

The “ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization with a membership of 162 national standards bodies.” Its International Standards, such as the ISO 9001:2008, “ensure that products and services are safe, reliable and of good quality.”

ARMM Governor Mujiv Hataman said the ISO certification is part of their commitment to improve governance and provide people in the region the kind of public service they deserve.

The ORG-ARMM was evaluated by the TUV Rheinland Philippines, Inc. and successfully passed a two-phase external audit. The first phase involved the assessment of its Quality Management System (QMS) documents composed of the Quality Policy, Quality Manual and the Quality Procedure, which were approved in June last year.

The second phase of the audit was an on-site evaluation of the actual implementation of the QMS on the different offices of the ORG-ARMM. The scope of the certification includes the provision of completed staff work for request for the Regional Governor’s issuances and engagements.

“These core processes provides two of the main services of ORG and we want to ensure our clients that we don’t only provide quality services but also that these services undergo a quality standard procedure,” Norkhalila Mae Mambuay-Campong, ARMM Cabinet Secretary, who also acted as the quality management representative of the ORG-ARMM, said.

She said that although the audit focused on the two core processes, the certification also looked into other functions such as records management, monitoring of client feedback, resource management, and means for continual improvement.

The Development Academy of the Philippines assisted the ORG-ARMM in its ISO standard application as part of the regional government’s efforts to further good governance in the ARMM. The ORG-ARMM, which wields ministerial control over some 40 line agencies and support offices, is now one of the few Local Government Units in the country that have been granted an ISO certification.

The ARMM had earlier passed the Good Governance Conditions set by the national government, qualifying its more than 30,000 employees to receive Performance-Based Bonus. (Bureau of Public Information)
